Team members
Add your whole crew at no extra cost. Read this page before you assume what that gets them — today a team member is a record in your shop, not a login of their own.
Team is where your crew lives. Adding someone costs nothing: there is no per-seat charge and never has been. What adding them does is give you a person to assign jobs to, a lane on the board, a name on a timesheet and somebody to address in Team chat.
The honest part
There is no separate sign-in for a team member yet. Aestar today is one account per shop — the owner's. A person you add in Team is a record, not a user, and the invitation you fill in is stored rather than emailed. The app says so on the screen itself, and we are saying it here rather than letting you find out when you tell a tech to log in.
| What you might expect | What actually happens today |
|---|---|
| The tech gets an invitation email | The invitation is saved on your shop. Nothing is emailed. |
| The tech signs in and sees their own jobs | There is no team-member login. The owner's sign-in is the only one. |
| Roles and permissions per person | A role is a free-text note on the record. Nothing reads it to decide what anyone can see. |
| Assigning a job notifies the tech | Nobody is texted or emailed. Assigning changes the board, and that is all it does. |
Per-person logins and SSO / SAML Later are on the Upcoming list, without a date. Until they land, treat Aestar as the owner's shop record rather than a crew app, and do not put anything in it that only some of your people should see.
What Team is genuinely good for
- Assigning work. The board has a column per person, and dragging a job onto someone is the whole workflow.
- Knowing who is where today, and which jobs have nobody on them.
- Hours. Time is logged against a person and a job — see Timesheets.
- Team chat, where messages are posted as a person so a job thread reads like a conversation.
How crews actually run it today
Owners tell the crew what they are on the way you already do — a call, a group message, the morning huddle — and use Aestar as the record of what was assigned, what was found and how long it took. That is a smaller claim than "everyone has the app", and it is the true one.
If per-person logins would change whether Aestar works for your shop, say so. That is how the order gets decided.
Still stuck?
Ask Ava. She answers questions about Aestar itself — pricing, setup, what she does on a call — and she will tell you when something is not built yet.
