Ask AI

A question box that answers out of your shop's own numbers. "Who still owes me?" is a better interface than a report.

Ask AI is in the app, for you, the signed-in owner. It reads your shop — your jobs, your calls, your invoices — and answers in a sentence. It is not the same thing as the Ava who answers your phone, and it never talks to your customers.

Things worth asking

  • "Who still owes me money?"
  • "What is left on today?"
  • "What did the last caller ask for?"
  • "How did this week's revenue compare to last week?"
  • "Who is off next week?"
  • "What did Ava book today?"

It can change things, but never on its own

Ask can do more than answer. It can record a payment, draft or queue an estimate or invoice, set a reminder, move a job's status, add somebody to the team or open a support ticket. Every one of those comes back as a preview first, with Confirm and Change underneath it. Nothing is written until you confirm.

What it will not do

The rules are written into the product rather than left to its judgement. It will not invent revenue, bookings, customer names or actions. It will not claim it sent a text, booked a job, changed a price or posted a review — it advises, and you act. Prices come from your price book only; ask it what a part costs at a hardware store and it will tell you that is not something it will guess at.

It also cannot read pictures. Attach a photo of a part or a handwritten quote and it will say so plainly rather than making something up from pixels. And it is not the Ava who answers your phone — it does not start or take calls.

Marketing and growth answers are guidance, not a promise of leads. Anyone selling you guaranteed ROI from a chat box is selling you something.

The other assistants

Ava is the only named one. The rest of the shop's helpers are unnamed features with a defined job and a defined limit:

HelperJob
Ava (phone)24/7 receptionist for callers
Price bookTypical-trade estimates from the owner's list
Follow-upPast-customer reactivation
ReviewsReview drafts after paid jobs
BriefingMonday briefing
ScheduleScheduler
EstimatesEstimate follow-up

Each of those carries an honesty rule in the code — what it may and may not claim — and those rules are why the app says "drafted" more often than other software says "sent".

Still stuck?

Ask Ava. She answers questions about Aestar itself — pricing, setup, what she does on a call — and she will tell you when something is not built yet.

Generated from the Aestar codebase at commit ceb26e3, last shipped September 23, 2026. Prices, statuses and screen names on this page are read from the running code, not typed by hand — so this page changes when the product does.
